    As at 31 December 2015, credit card loans by FDIC-insured banks in the US stood at USD$$756.47 billion compares to USD$718.47 billion a year ago, representing a 5.29% increased in 12 months period. Credit card loans representing about 51% of the total loans to individual. Total revolving consumer credit amounted to USD$936.4 billion(seasonally adjusted)/USD$936.4 billion(not seasonally adjusted) as at 31 December 2015.

    As at 31 December 2015, total outstanding home mortgage in the US stood at USD$11.085 trillion compares to USD$10.878 trillion same period a year ago, representing a 1.90% increased in 12 months period. The USD$11.085 trillion is made up of two type of properties, USD$9.986 trillion for 1 to 4 family residences and USD$1,098.771 billion for multifamily residences.

    In 2013, 871,801 payday loans amounted to USD$331,430,078 were made at Washington by 231,868 customers. Whereas in Colorado, 481,122 payday loans amounted to USD$189,125,729 were made by 259,000 customers in 2013



  • As at 31 March 2016, there are USD$55.620 billions outstanding credit card loans for Discover Card. USD$27.552 billions is generated for Discover card sales in Quarter 1, 2016(January, February and March), a 4.45% increase compares to the same quarter a year ago.

    As at 31 March 2016, there are 195 millions MasterCard credit and charge cards in the United States, generating USD$170 billions(USD$162 billions for purchases and USD$7 billions for cash advances) for Quarter 1, 2016(January, February and March). There are 588 million MasterCard credit and charge cards outside the U.S. as at 31 March 2016, generating USD$423 billions(USD$387 billions for purchases and USD$36 billions for cash advances) for Q1, 2016.

    As at 31 March 2016, there are 57.9 millions American Express cards in the United States, with total card billed business(including cash advances) of USD$176.3 billions for Quarter 1, 2016(January, February and March). There are 60.7 million American Express cards outside the U.S. as at 31 March 2016, generating USD$77.5 billions total card billed business for Q1, 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 336 millions Visa credit cards in the United States. USD$349 billions(USD$334 billions for purchases and USD$14 billions for cash advances) is generated for Quarter 1, 2016(January, February and March) in the United States. There are 561 million Visa credit cards outside the U.S. as at 31 December 2015. USD$477 billions(USD$447 for purchases and USD$30 for cash advances) is generated in Quarter 1, 2016 for the rest of the world.



  • As at 29 February 2016, Canada outstanding credit card balances stood at CAD$75.511 billion, a decrease of 2.50% or CAD$1.937 billion compares to CAD$77.448 billion a month ago.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Canada decrease by 5.60% to 76,581,340. However, the total card spending for 12 months ended 31 December 2014 in Canada up by 7.70% to CAD$403.70 billions, with 8.87% increase in number of card transactions.

    As at 31 October 2014, the number of visa and mastercard in Canada decrease by 5.64% to 72.0 millions. The total visa and mastercard spending for 12 months ending 31 October 2014 in Canada up by 7.54% to CAD$399.23 billions, with 8.28% increase in number of card transactions.



Asia and Oceania

  • As at 31 January 2016, the number of credit cards in Singapore stood at 8,021,890 for main cardholders and 1,479,894 for supplementary cardholders with S$27.5 million bad debts are written off in the month.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 8,075,293 main cardholders in Singapore, a decrease of 1.32% in 12 months period. Whereas supplementary cardholders decrease by 4.11% to 1,490,055. For the twelve months ended 31 December 2015, total card billings amounted to S$S$47.10 billion.



  • As at 31 January 2016, the number of credit cards in Thailand stood at 21,879,463, with 39.721 millions transactions amounting to THB150 billions recorded in the month of January 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Thailand increase by 9.46% to 20,303,751. And the total credit cards spending for 2014 in Thailand continue to rise by 6.69% to THB1,626 billions.



  • As at 29 February 2016, there are 24.13 millions credit cards in India. The total credit cards spending for February in India is INR209.21 billions, out of 67.69 millions transactions.
    For the 9 months ended 30th September 2015, a total of 538.96 millions transactions is recorded with total value of INR1,653.26 billions.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in India increase by 8.94% to 20.36 million. The total credit cards spending for 2014 in India up by 24.49% to INR1,827.73 billions, with 21.44% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 29 February 2016, there are 16,393,125 cardholders in Australia, with 195,324,320 transactions amounting to A$25.64 billion recorded in the month.

  • As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Malaysia stood at 7,747,398 for main cardholders and 993,659 for supplementary cardholders, with 33.73 million transactions amounting to MYR$10.98 billion recorded in the month.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Malaysia increase by 0.40% to 8,127,514. And the total credit cards spending for 2014 in Malaysia continue to rise by 5.82% to MYR$105.5 billions, out of 345.9 millions transactions.



  • As at 31 December 2015, there are 17,108,000 credit cards in Hong Kong, a decrease of 29,000 or 0.17% in 12 months period(compares to 17,137,000 as at 31 December 2014). The rollover amount stood at HKD$20,788 millions as at 31 December 2015.

    The number of credit cards in Hong Kong increase by 2.08% or 347,000 to 17,037,000 as at 31 December 2014, compares to the same period a year ago. The charge-off amount increase by 4.98% for 12 months ended 2014.



  • As at 29 February 2016, there are 38,588,610 credit cards in Taiwan, however only 25,384,814 cards are active. A total of 279,611 cards is issued in the month of February 2016. The total credit cards spending for February 2016 in Taiwan is NT$172.45 billion, made up of NT$171.08 billion in purchases and NT$1.37 billion in cash advance.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Taiwan increase by 3.02% to 38,518,206, compares to the same period a year ago. Total credit cards spending for 2015 in Taiwan is NT$2.232 trillions.



  • As at 31 January 2016, there are 93,175,000 credit cards in South Korea, made up of 85,678,000 personal credit cards and 7,497,000 corporate credit cards. For the month of January 2016, 803,769,000 transactions recorded with a total value of KRW53.531254 trillions.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in South Korea decrease by 9.51% to 92,321,000. Personal credit cards decrease by 10.27% while corporate credit card increase by 1.03%. A total of KRW581.96 trillions credit cards spending recorded in 2014, out of 8.86 billions transactions.



  • For the month of January 2016, JPY4.00 trillion credit card transactions recorded in Japan(JPY3.87 trillion for purchases and JPY0.13 trillion for cash advances).

    As at 31 March 2014, the number of credit cards in Japan increase by 2.86% to 267.22 millions. The total credit card transactions for 2014 increased by 10.72% to JPY46.27 trillions.



  • As at 29 February 2016, outstanding credit card balances in New Zealand stood at NZD$6.626 billion(an increase of NZD$74 million or 1.13% compares to NZD$6.552 billion as at end of January 2016). Total billings for New Zealand issued cards for February 2016 is NZD$3.259 billion.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in New Zealand decrease by 2.56% to 2,608,147. A total of 334,048,524 credit card transactions recorded in 2014 with NZ$36,080 millions in value.



  • As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in China increase by 16.45% to 455.0950 million. The total payment cards(credit and debit cards) spending for 2014 in China up by 33.15% to CNY42,384 billions, with 52.30% increase in number of card transactions.



Europe

  • As at 31 December 2015, there are 6,227,000 credit and charge cards in Norway. 57.830 million transactions is recorded in Quarter 4, 2015(October, November and December), generating NOK41.058 billions.
    For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, 208.786 billions charge and credit cards transactions recorded, generating NOK153.734 billions.

    The number of payment cards in Norway increase by 1,072,000 or 8.49% to 13,698,000 as at 31st December 2014, compares to the same period a year ago. The payment cards usage in Norway increased by 7.64% in volume and 7.37% in value.

    As at 31 December 2014, there are 5,504,000 cards with credit function in Norway, an increase of 450,000 or 8.91% compares to 5,054,000 to the end of 2013. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2014, a total of NOK118.9 billions recorded from 159 millions credit card transactions.

    As at 29 February 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Norway stood at NOK65,572 million, a decrease of NOK280 millions or 0.43% compares to NOK65,852 millions as at 31 January 2016.



  • As at 29 February 2016, there are 59.706 millions credit cards in the United Kingdom, with outstanding balances of £59.901 billions. The total credit cards spending for February 2016 in UK is £12.064 billions, out of 214.989 millions transactions. There are 562,000 balance transfer transactions amounted to £1,312 millions recorded in February 2016.

  • As at 29 February 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Germany stood at €177,029 millions, an increase by €982 millions or 0.56% compares to €176,047 millions as at 31 January 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Germany increase significantly by 25.55% to 4,899,140. The total cards spending for 2014 in Germany rised significantly by 36.85% to €6.09 billions, with an equally significant 39.17% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 29 February 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Netherlands stood at €19,781 millions, a decrease by €61 millions or 0.31% compares to €19,842 millions as at 31 January 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 6,224,075 cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Netherlands. In the 4th Quarter 2015, 35.7 millions credit card transactions recorded, generating €3.347 billions in total spending. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, 141.38 millions transactions recorded, generating €13.464 billions in value.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Netherlands increase by 7.20% to 6,388,870. The total cards(with a credit and/or delayed debit function) spending for 2014 in Netherlands rised by 6.70% to €12.10 billions, with 8.27% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 29 February 2016, there are 21,799,000 convenience credit cards and extended credit cards in Sweden(34,000 or 0.16% less compares to 21,816,000 as at end of January 2016), with the outstanding balance stood at SEK66.180 billions.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Sweden decrease by 9.27% to 5,216,000. The total credit cards spending for 2014 in Sweden continue to rise by 2.53% to €8.92 billions(out of 144.52 millions transactions).

    As at 31 January 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Sweden stood at €19,888 millions, a decrease by €189 millions or 0.94% compares to €20,077 millions as at 31 December 2015.



  • As at 31 December 2015, there are 44.82 millions credit cards in Spain, an increase of 0.45 millions or 1.01% compares to 44.37 millions as at 30 September 2015. For the 3 months ended 31 December 2015, 709.201 millions payment card transactions(credit and debit cards) recorded at point of sales, with a total value of €29,852.97 millions.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 44.82 millions credit cards in Spain, an increase of 3.65% or 1.58 millions compares to 43.24 millions as at 31 December 2014. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, 2,683.857 millions payment card transactions(credit and debit cards) recorded at point of sales, with a total value of €112,330.26 millions.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Spain increase by 0.72% to 43,577,010. The total cards(with a credit and/or delayed debit function) spending for 2014 in Spain increase by 8.50% to €65.71 billions, with 4.77% increase in number of card transactions.

    As at 29 February 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Spain stood at €60,376 millions, a decrease by €206 millions or 0.34% compares to €60,582 millions as at 31 January 2016.



  • As at 29 February 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Belgium stood at €8,149 millions, a decrease by €8 millions or 0.10% compares to €8,157 millions as at 31 January 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, there are 2,102,090 credit cards in Belgium. The total credit cards spending in Belgium for 2014 is €270 million, out of 2.18 millions transactions.



  • As at 29 February 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Finland stood at €14,065 millions, an increase by €25 millions or 0.18% compares to at €14,040 millions as at 31 January 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, there are 1,730,020 credit cards in Finland. The total credit cards spending in Finland for 2014 is €2.75 billions, out of 49.87 millions transactions.



  • As at 31 January 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in France stood at €151,611 millions, a decrease by €1,165 millions or 0.76% compares to €152,776 millions as at 31 December 2015.

    As at 31 December 2014, there are 6,943,180 credit cards in France, generating €5.54 billions from 85.40 millions credit card transactions.



  • As at 31 January 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Italy stood at €81,574 millions, an increase by €372 millions or 0.46% compares to €81,202 millions as at 31 December 2015.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Italy decrease by 3.50% to 26,605,930. The total cards(with a credit and/or delayed debit function) spending for 2014 in Italy increase by 6.02% to €53.91 billions, with 9.62% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 January 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Denmark stood at €14,563 millions, a decrease by €641 millions or 4.22% compares to €15,204 millions as at 31 December 2015.

    For the 6 months ended 31 December (from 1 July 2015 to 31 December 2015), 27.7 millions credit card transactions recorded in Denmark, generating DKK18.938 billions in total spending.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Denmark increase by 4.39% to 1,880,003. The total cards spending for 2015 in Denmark increase by 8.15% to DKK36.897 billions, with 6.68% increase recorded in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 January 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Poland stood at €32,902 millions, a decrease by €1,320 millions or 3.86% compares to €34,222 millions as at 31 December 2015.

  • As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Poland decrease by 1.49%% to 6,042,000. However, the total cards spending for 2014 in Poland rise by 6.43% to €7.45 billions, with 12.24% increase recorded in number of card transactions.



  • As at 29 February 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Austria stood at €19,980 millions, a decrease by €58 millions or 0.29% compares to €20,038 millions as at 31 January 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Austria increase by 2.07% to 1,417,770. The total cards spending for 2014 in Austria rised by 5.99% to €5.31 billions, with 25.31% increase in number of card transactions.

  • As at 31 December 2015, there are 1,405,007 credit cards and 7,547,829 debit cards in Hungary.

    As at 31 January 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Hungary stood at €8,426 millions, an increase by €45 millions or 0.54% compares to €8,381 millions as at 31 December 2015.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Hungary increase by 3.06% to 1,392,370. The total cards spending for 2014 in Hungary rise by 18.64% to €1.40 billions, with 31.86% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 January 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Czech Republic stood at €7,826 millions, an increase a decrease by €65 millions or 0.82% millions as at 31 December 2015.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Czech Republic decrease by 1.54% to 1,584,860. However, the total credit cards spending for 2014 in Czech Republic rise by 13.79% to €1.98 billions, with 29.25% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 January 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Latvia stood at €457 millions, an increase by €3 millions or 0.66% compares to €454 millions as at 31 December 2015.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Latvia increase by 0.84% to 343,690. The total credit cards spending for 2014 in Latvia up by 33.33% to €0.60 billions, with 44.50% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 29 February 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Portugal stood at €12,263 millions, an increase by €97 millions or 0.80% compares to €12,166 millions as at 31 January 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Portugal decrease by 8.73% to 7,751,780. The total cards credit and/or delayed debit function spending for 2014 in Portugal decrease by 12.64% to €3.87 billions, with 17.12% decrease in number of card transactions.



  • As at 29 February 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Ireland stood at €11,430 millions, a decrease by €9 millions or 0.08% compares to €11,439 millions as at 31 January 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Ireland decrease by 19.30% to 1,615,260. The total credit cards spending for 2014 in Ireland down by 39.88% to €6.03 billions, with 23.60% decrease in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Russia increase by 8.83% to 31,765,000. The total credit cards spending for 2014 in Russia up by 43.23% to RUR1,036.1 billions, with 64.53% increase in number of card transactions.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Bulgaria increase by 16.90% to 937,930. The total credit cards spending for 2014 in Bulgaria rise by 76.60% to €0.83 billions, with 69.80% increase in number of card transactions.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Greece increase by 6.34% to 3,112,090. However, the total credit cards spending for 2014 in Greece down by 4.07% to €4.01 billions, with 0.38% decrease in number of card transactions.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Slovakia increase by 44.08% to 892,100. The total credit cards spending for 2014 in Slovakia up by 24.05% to €0.98 billions, with 42.38% increase in number of card transactions

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Turkey increase by 0.30% to 57,006,000. The total credit cards spending for 2014 in Turkey up by 11.19% to TRY429.84 billions, with 3.76% increase in number of card transactions.
