    As at 31 December 2015, credit card loans by FDIC-insured banks in the US stood at USD$$756.47 billion compares to USD$718.47 billion a year ago, representing a 5.29% increased in 12 months period. Credit card loans representing about 51% of the total loans to individual. Total revolving consumer credit amounted to USD$937.9 billion(seasonally adjusted)/USD$937.9 billion(not seasonally adjusted) as at 31 December 2015.

    As at 30 June 2016, total outstanding home mortgage in the US stood at USD$11.192 trillion compares to USD$11.102 trillion a quarter ago, representing a 0.81% increased in 3 months period. The USD$11.192 trillion is made up of two type of properties, USD$10.055 trillion for 1 to 4 family residences and USD$1,136.669 billion for multifamily residences.

    As at 31 December 2015, total outstanding home mortgage in the US stood at USD$11.081 trillion compares to USD$10.874 trillion same period a year ago, representing a 1.90% increased in 12 months period. The USD$11.081 trillion is made up of two type of properties, USD$9.989 trillion for 1 to 4 family residences and USD$1,091.681 billion for multifamily residences.

    In 2013, 871,801 payday loans amounted to USD$331,430,078 were made at Washington by 231,868 customers. Whereas in Colorado, 481,122 payday loans amounted to USD$189,125,729 were made by 259,000 customers in 2013



  • As at 30 September 2016, there are USD$58.006 billions outstanding credit card loans for Discover Card. USD$30.683 billions is generated for Discover card sales in Quarter 3, 2016(July, August and September), a 1.02% increase compares to the same quarter a year ago.

    As at 30 September 2016, there are 196 millions MasterCard credit and charge cards in the United States, generating USD$182 billions(USD$174 billions for purchases and USD$8 billions for cash advances) for Quarter 3, 2016(July, August and September). There are 582 million MasterCard credit and charge cards outside the U.S. as at 30 September 2016, generating USD$465 billions(USD$426 billions for purchases and USD$39 billions for cash advances) for Q3, 2016.

    As at 30 September 2016, there are 47.1 millions American Express cards in the United States, with total card billed business(including cash advances) of USD$164.6 billions for Quarter 3, 2016(July, August and September). There are 61.7 million American Express cards outside the U.S. as at 30 September 2016, generating USD$86.6 billions total card billed business for Q3, 2016.

    As at 30 June 2016, there are 355 millions Visa credit cards in the United States. USD$424 billions(USD$409 billions for purchases and USD$15 billions for cash advances) is generated for Quarter 3, 2016(July, August and September) in the United States. There are 572 million Visa credit cards outside the U.S. as at 30 June 2016. USD$725 billions(USD$656 for purchases and USD$68 for cash advances) is generated in Quarter 3, 2016 for the rest of the world.



  • As at 30 September 2016, Canada outstanding credit card balances stood at CAD$79.214 billion, an increase of 1.12% or CAD$877 million compares to CAD$78.337 billion a month ago.

    As at 31 October 2015, the number of visa and mastercard in Canada decrease by 4.86% to 68.5 millions. The total visa and mastercard spending for 12 months ending 31 October 2015 in Canada up by 5.46% to CAD$421.03 billions(CAD$390.67 billion purchases and CAD$30.36 billions cash advances).

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Canada decrease by 5.90% to 72,066,520. However, the total card spending for 12 months ended 31 December 2015 in Canada up by 3.01% to CAD$415.87 billions, with 4.49% increase in number of card transactions.




Asia and Oceania

  • As at 30 September 2016, the number of credit cards in Singapore stood at 7,917,122 for main cardholders and 1,456,145 for supplementary cardholders with S$22.8 million bad debts are written off in the month.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 8,044,900 main cardholders in Singapore, a decrease of 1.37% in 12 months period. Whereas supplementary cardholders decrease by 4.15% to 1,490,254. For the twelve months ended 31 December 2015, total card billings amounted to SGD$47.10 billion.



  • As at 31 August 2016, there are 39,642,049 credit cards in Taiwan, however only 26,230,558 cards are active. A total of 761,941 cards is issued in the month of August 2016. The total credit cards spending for August 2016 in Taiwan is NT$213.78 billion, made up of NT$216.08 billion in purchases and NT$2.30 billion in cash advance.<

    As at 31 August 2016, total outstanding consumer loans in Taiwan stood at NT$7.529953 trillions, an increase of NT$9.214 billions or 0.12% compares to NT$7.520739 trillions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Taiwan increase by 3.02% to 38,518,206, compares to the same period a year ago. Total credit cards spending for 2015 in Taiwan is NT$2.232 trillions.



  • As at 30 September 2016, there are 16,543,000 credit card accounts in Hong Kong, a decrease of 185,000 or 0.51% in 3 months period(compares to 16,628,000 as at 30 June 2016). The rollover amount stood at HKD$21,344 millions as at 30 September 2016.

    As at 30 June 2016, there are 18,828,000 credit cards in Hong Kong, an increase of 1.52% compares to a quarter ago. 136,209,000 credit card transactions recorded in Q2,2016, generating HKD$144.598 billions. For the 6 months ended 30 June 2016, 267,499,000 credit card transactions recorded, with a total value of HKD$294.059 billions.

    The number of credit cards in Hong Kong increase by 1.19% or 224,000 to 19,044,000 as at 31 December 2015, compares to the same period a year ago. In 2015, a total of 520,977,000 credit card transactions recorded, generating HKD$595.405 billions.



  • As at 30 June 2016, the number of credit cards in Malaysia stood at 7,961,604 for main cardholders and 967,070 for supplementary cardholders. 31.4 million transactions amounting to MYR$9.8 billion recorded in the month.

    Loans for credit card in Malaysia stood at MYR35,397.337 millions as at 31 August, a 0.32% increase compares to a month ago. MYR9,465.037 millions credit card loans disbursed in August.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Malaysia increase by 7.12% to 8,741,057. And the total credit cards spending for 2015 in Malaysia continue to rise by 6.82% to MYR112.7 billions, out of 359.6 millions transactions.



  • As at 31 July 2016, the number of credit cards in Thailand stood at 22,604,188, with 41.595 millions transactions amounting to THB145 billions recorded in July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Thailand increase by 7.18% to 21,762,275. And the total credit cards spending for 2015 in Thailand continue to rise by 6.03% to THB1,724 billions.



  • As at 30 September 2016, there are 26.86 millions credit cards in India. The total credit cards spending for September 2016 in India is INR244.83 billions, out of 78.53 millions transactions.

    For the 9 months ended 30 September 2016, a total of 683.23 millions transactions is recorded in India with a total value of INR2,129.85 billions.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in India increase by 11.74% to 22.75 million. The total credit cards spending for 2015 in India up by 25.69% to INR2,297.3 billions, with 26.48% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, there are 16,693,797 cardholders in Australia, with 221,576,030 transactions amounting to A$27.60 billion recorded in the month.

    As at 30 September 2016, outstanding Lending to Persons in Australia stood at A$1,596.402 billions, an increase of 0.42% compares to A$1,589.79 billions as at 31 August 2016.

    As at 31st December 2015, outstanding Lending to Persons in Australia stood at A$1,521.836 billions, an increase of 7.70% in 12 months period.

    The number of charge and credit cardholders in Australia increase by 3.60% in 12 months period to 16,312,588 as at 31 December 2015. Total card transactions increase by 4.97% to A$301.98 billion.



  • As at 31 August 2016, there are 94,765,000 credit cards in South Korea, made up of 87,033,000 personal credit cards and 7,732,000 corporate credit cards. For the month of August 2016, 954,928,000 transactions recorded with a total value of KRW55.805879 trillions.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in South Korea increase by 0.84% to 93,095,000. Personal credit cards decrease by 0.52% while corporate credit card increase by 17.50%. A total of KRW612.58 trillions credit cards spending recorded in 2015, out of 9.80 billions transactions.



  • For the month of August 2016, JPY4.05 trillion credit card transactions recorded in Japan(JPY3.91 trillion for purchases and JPY0.14 trillion for cash advances).

    As at 31 March 2015, the number of credit cards in Japan decrease by 3.11% to 258.90 millions. The total credit card transactions for 2015 increased by 7.69% to JPY49.83 trillions.



  • As at 30 September 2016, outstanding credit card balances in New Zealand stood at NZD$6.506 billion(an increase of NZD$46 million or 0.71% compares to NZD$6.460 billion as at end of August 2016). Total billings for New Zealand issued cards for September 2016 is NZD$3.425 billion.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in New Zealand decrease by 2.56% to 2,608,147. A total of 334,048,524 credit card transactions recorded in 2014 with NZ$36,080 millions in value.



  • As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in China increase by 16.45% to 455.0950 million. The total payment cards(credit and debit cards) spending for 2014 in China up by 33.15% to CNY42,384 billions, with 52.30% increase in number of card transactions.



Europe

  • As at 30 June 2016, there are 6,037,000 credit and charge cards in Norway. 60.968 million transactions is recorded in Quarter 2, 2016(April, May and Jun), generating NOK42.112 billions.
    For the 6 months ended 30th June 2016, 113.984 millions charge and credit cards transactions recorded, generating NOK79.079 billions.
    For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, 208.786 millions charge and credit cards transactions recorded, generating NOK153.734 billions.

    The number of payment cards in Norway increase by 998,000 or 7.29% to 14,696,000 as at 31st December 2015, compares to the same period a year ago. The payment cards usage in Norway increased by 6.76% in volume and 4.98% in value.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 6,157,000 cards with credit function in Norway, an increase of 653,000 or 11.86% compares to 5,504,000 to the end of 2014. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, a total of NOK130.8 billions recorded from 179.20 millions credit card transactions.

    As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Norway stood at NOK68,017 million, an increase of NOK863 millions or 1.27% compares to NOK68,880 millions as at 31 July 2016.



  • As at 31 August 2016, there are 60.133 millions credit cards in the United Kingdom, with outstanding balances of £62.141 billions. The total credit cards spending for August 2016 in UK is £13.393 billions, out of 246.280 millions transactions. There are 560,000 balance transfer transactions amounted to £1,233 millions recorded in August 2016.

  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Germany stood at €182,525 millions, an increase by €1,438 millions or 0.79% compares to €181,087 millions as at 31 July 016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Germany increase by 12.80% to 4,968,840. The total cards spending for 2015 in Germany rised by 10.89% to €5.70 billions, out of 87.29 millions transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Netherlands stood at €19,034 millions, a decrease by €31 millions or 0.16% compares to €19,065 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 30 June 2016, there are 6,272,401 cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Netherlands. For the 6 months ended 30th June 2016, 73.343 millions transactions is recorded, generating €6.917 billions in total spending.
    As at 31 December 2015, there are 6,224,075 cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Netherlands. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, 141.166 millions transactions recorded, generating €13.406 billions in value.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Netherlands decrease by 2.58% to 6,224,080. The total cards(with a credit and/or delayed debit function) spending for 2015 in Netherlands rised by 10.83% to €13.41 billions, with 7.58% increase in number of card transactions.
    As at 31 December 2015, there are 419,460 credit cards in Netherlands, a decrease of 6.51% compares to the same period a year ago.



  • As at 31 September 2016, there are 21,849,000 convenience credit cards and extended credit cards in Sweden(37,000 or 0.17% lower compares to 21,886,000 as at end of August 2016), with the outstanding balance stood at SEK69.252 billions.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Sweden decrease by 65.58%% to 8,636,660. The total credit cards spending for 2015 in Sweden continue to rise by 77.91% to €15.87 billions(out of 292.00 millions transactions).

    As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Sweden stood at €19,845 millions, a decrease by €33 millions or 0.17% compares to €19,878 millions as at 31 July 2016.



  • As at 30 June 2016, there are 46.00 millions credit cards in Spain, an increase of 1.18 millions or 2.63% compares to 44.82 millions as at 31 December 2015. For the 6 months ended 30 June 2016, 1,439.922 millions payment card transactions(credit and debit cards) recorded at point of sales, with a total value of €58,465.49 millions.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 44.82 millions credit cards in Spain, an increase of 3.65% or 1.58 millions compares to 43.24 millions as at 31 December 2014. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, 2,683.857 millions payment card transactions(credit and debit cards) recorded at point of sales, with a total value of €112,330.26 millions.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Spain increase by 3.62% to 45,152,590. The total cards(with a credit and/or delayed debit function) spending for 2015 in Spain decrease by 3.53% to €63.39 billions, with 7.12% decrease in number of card transactions.

    As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Spain stood at €64,791 millions, an increase by €70 millions or 0.11% compares to €64,721 millions as at 31 July 2016.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Belgium stood at €8,576 millions, a decrease by €44 millions or 0.51% compares to €8,620 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 2,332,630 credit cards in Belgium. The total credit cards spending in Belgium for 2015 is €290 million, out of 2.27 millions transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Finland stood at €14,402 millions, an increase by €47 millions or 0.33% compares to at €14,355 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 2,013,540 credit cards in Finland. The total credit cards spending in Finland for 2015 is €2.95 billions, out of 53.45 millions transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in France stood at €148,435 millions, a decrease by €170 millions or 0.11% compares to €148,605 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 5,860,320 credit cards in France, generating €13.17 billions from 247.87 millions credit card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Italy stood at €84,327 millions, a decrease by €191 millions or 0.23% compares to €84,518 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Italy increase by 0.87% to 26,837,290. The total cards(with a credit and/or delayed debit function) spending for 2015 in Italy increase by 0.45% to €54.15 billions, with 1.35% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Denmark stood at €15,674 millions, a decrease by €167 millions or 1.05% compares to €15,841 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    For the 6 months ended 31 December 2015(from 1 July 2015 to 31 December 2015), 27.7 millions credit card transactions recorded in Denmark, generating DKK18.938 billions in total spending.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Denmark increase by 4.39% to 1,880,003. The total cards spending for 2015 in Denmark increase by 8.15% to DKK36.897 billions(€4.95 billions), with 6.68% increase recorded in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Poland stood at €35,461 millions, an increase by €390 millions or 1.11% compares to €35,071 millions as at 31 July 2016.

  • As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Poland decrease by 3.88% to 5,807,560. However, the total cards spending for 2015 in Poland rise by 1.34% to €7.55 billions, with 12.07% increase recorded in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Austria stood at €20,145 millions, an increase by €161 millions or 0.81% compares to €19,984 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Austria decrease by 4.30% to 1,356,760. The total cards spending for 2015 in Austria lowered by 1.69% to €5.22 billions, with 0.91% decrease in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, there are 6,313,862 cardholders in Switzerland, with 31,291,000 transactions amounting to CHF$3.222 billion recorded in the month.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Switzerland decrease by 3.06% to 6,192,051. A total of 296.45 millions credit card transactions recorded in 2015 with CHF$34.86 billions in value.



  • As at 30 June 2016, there are 1,390,767 credit cards in Hungary. For the 6 months ended 30 June 2016, 37,083,470 credit card transactions recorded in Hungary, generating HUF287,753 millions in value.

    As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Hungary stood at €8,135 millions, an increase by €1 millions or 0.01% compares to €8,134 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Hungary decrease by 0.71% to 1,382,480. The total cards spending for 2015 in Hungary rise by 15.00% to €1.61 billions, with 18.62% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Czech Republic stood at €8,044 millions, an increase by €38 millions or 0.47% compares to €8,006 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Czech Republic increase by 29.69% to 2,055,400. The total credit cards spending for 2015 in Czech Republic rise by 44.95% to €2.87 billions, with 47.16% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Latvia stood at €485 millions, an increase by €5 millions or 1.04% compares to €480 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Latvia increase by 5.37% to 362,150. The total credit cards spending for 2015 in Latvia up by 20.00% to €0.72 billions, with 10.92% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Portugal stood at €12,923 millions, an increase by €28 millions or 0.22% compares to €12,895 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Portugal increase by 4.69% to 8,144,540. The total cards credit and/or delayed debit function spending for 2015 in Portugal increase by 2.07% to €3.94 billions, with 5.06% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Romania stood at €11,624 millions, an increase by €49 millions or 0.42% compares to at €11,575 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Romania increase by 7.72% to 2,479,330. The total credit cards spending for 2015 in Romania rise by 12.21% to €1.47 billions, with 9.29% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Bulgaria stood at €4,385 millions, an increase by €20 millions or 0.46% compares to €4,365 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Bulgaria increase by 0.69% to 944,420. The total credit cards spending for 2015 in Bulgaria rise by 14.46% to €0.95 billions, with 16.11% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Ireland stood at €12,265 millions, an increase by €90 millions or 0.74% compares to €12,175 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Ireland increase by 11.32% to 1,798,140. The total credit cards spending for 2015 in Ireland down by 31.01% to €7.90 billions, with 26.40% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 August 2016, the loans granted to resident individuals outstanding balance in Russia stood at RUR10,661,247 millions, an increase by RUR61,286 millions or 0.58% compares to RUR10,599,961 millions as at 31 July 2016.

    For the 6 months ended 30th June 2016, a total of RUR3,274,981 millions loans granted to resident individuals in Russia. As at 31 December 2015, the outstanding balance for loans granted to resident individuals in Russia stood at RUR10,634,035 millions. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, a total of RUR5,861,351 millions loans granted to resident individuals in Russia.

    As at 30 June 2016, the number of credit cards in Russia has increased by 2.07% to 30,074,000 in 6 months period. For the 6 months ended 30th June 2016, 5,915.2 millions payment card(debit and credit card) transactions recorded in Russia, generating RUR5,915.5 billions.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Russia decrease by 7.24% to 29,464,000. The total credit cards spending for 2015 in Russia up by 14.84% to RUR1,189.5 billions, with 33.19% increase in number of card transactions.

    As at 30 September 2016, total household loans extended by all monetary institutions in South Africa stood at ZAR$1,473,477 millions, an increase of 0.22% compares to ZAR$1,470,282 millions as at 31 August 2016.
