    As at 31 December 2015, credit card loans by FDIC-insured banks in the US stood at USD$$756.47 billion compares to USD$718.47 billion a year ago, representing a 5.29% increased in 12 months period. Credit card loans representing about 51% of the total loans to individual. Total revolving consumer credit amounted to USD$937.9 billion(seasonally adjusted)/USD$937.9 billion(not seasonally adjusted) as at 31 December 2015.

    As at 31 March 2016, total outstanding home mortgage in the US stood at USD$11.120 trillion compares to USD$11.081 trillion a quarter ago, representing a 0.35% increased in 3 months period. The USD$11.120 trillion is made up of two type of properties, USD$10.009 trillion for 1 to 4 family residences and USD$1,111.117 billion for multifamily residences.

    As at 31 December 2015, total outstanding home mortgage in the US stood at USD$11.081 trillion compares to USD$10.874 trillion same period a year ago, representing a 1.90% increased in 12 months period. The USD$11.081 trillion is made up of two type of properties, USD$9.989 trillion for 1 to 4 family residences and USD$1,091.681 billion for multifamily residences.

    In 2013, 871,801 payday loans amounted to USD$331,430,078 were made at Washington by 231,868 customers. Whereas in Colorado, 481,122 payday loans amounted to USD$189,125,729 were made by 259,000 customers in 2013



  • As at 30 June 2016, there are USD$57.219 billions outstanding credit card loans for Discover Card. USD$30.702 billions is generated for Discover card sales in Quarter 2, 2016(April, May and June), a 2.28% increase compares to the same quarter a year ago.

    As at 31 March 2016, there are 195 millions MasterCard credit and charge cards in the United States, generating USD$170 billions(USD$162 billions for purchases and USD$7 billions for cash advances) for Quarter 1, 2016(January, February and March). There are 588 million MasterCard credit and charge cards outside the U.S. as at 31 March 2016, generating USD$423 billions(USD$387 billions for purchases and USD$36 billions for cash advances) for Q1, 2016.

    As at 30 June 2016, there are 47.0 millions American Express cards in the United States, with total card billed business(including cash advances) of USD$185.1 billions for Quarter 2, 2016(April, May and June). There are 61.2 million American Express cards outside the U.S. as at 30 June 2016, generating USD$84.2 billions total card billed business for Q2, 2016.

    As at 31 March 2016, there are 333 millions Visa credit cards in the United States. USD$390 billions(USD$376 billions for purchases and USD$15 billions for cash advances) is generated for Quarter 2, 2016(April, May and June) in the United States. There are 566 million Visa credit cards outside the U.S. as at 31 March 2016. USD$512 billions(USD$476 for purchases and USD$36 for cash advances) is generated in Quarter 2, 2016 for the rest of the world.



  • As at 30 April 2016, Canada outstanding credit card balances stood at CAD$76.087 billion, an increase of 1.21% or CAD$909 million compares to CAD$75.178 billion a month ago.

    As at 31 October 2015, the number of visa and mastercard in Canada decrease by 4.86% to 68.5 millions. The total visa and mastercard spending for 12 months ending 31 October 2015 in Canada up by 5.46% to CAD$421.03 billions(CAD$390.67 billion purchases and CAD$30.36 billions cash advances).

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Canada decrease by 5.60% to 76,581,340. However, the total card spending for 12 months ended 31 December 2014 in Canada up by 7.70% to CAD$403.70 billions, with 8.87% increase in number of card transactions.




Asia and Oceania

  • As at 30 April 2016, the number of credit cards in Singapore stood at 7,981,349 for main cardholders and 1,471,762 for supplementary cardholders with S$27.5 million bad debts are written off in the month.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 8,075,293 main cardholders in Singapore, a decrease of 1.32% in 12 months period. Whereas supplementary cardholders decrease by 4.11% to 1,490,055. For the twelve months ended 31 December 2015, total card billings amounted to S$S$47.10 billion.



  • As at 31 March 2016, the number of credit cards in Malaysia stood at 7,855,291 for main cardholders and 1,042,402 for supplementary cardholders, 31.45 million transactions amounting to MYR$9.88 billion recorded in the month.

    Loans for credit card in Malaysia stood at MYR35,008.623 millions as at 30 April 2016, a 0.15% increase compares to a month ago. MYR8,896.96 millions credit card loans disbursed in March.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Malaysia increase by 7.12% to 8,741,057. And the total credit cards spending for 2015 in Malaysia continue to rise by 6.82% to MYR112.7 billions, out of 359.6 millions transactions.



  • As at 31 May 2016, there are 39,228,141 credit cards in Taiwan, however only 25,690,221 cards are active. A total of 526,999 cards is issued in the month of May 2016. The total credit cards spending for May 2016 in Taiwan is NT$206.25 billion, made up of NT$203.98 billion in purchases and NT$2.27 billion in cash advance.

    As at 31 May 2016, total outstanding consumer loans in Taiwan stood at NT$7.460067 trillions, an increase of NT$29.640 billions or 0.40% compares to NT$7.430427 trillions as at 30 April 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Taiwan increase by 3.02% to 38,518,206, compares to the same period a year ago. Total credit cards spending for 2015 in Taiwan is NT$2.232 trillions.



  • As at 30 April 2016, the number of credit cards in Thailand stood at 22,321,091, with 40.443 millions transactions amounting to THB145 billions recorded in April 2016.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Thailand increase by 7.18% to 21,762,275. And the total credit cards spending for 2015 in Thailand continue to rise by 6.03% to THB1,724 billions.



  • As at 31 May 2016, there are 25.09 millions credit cards in India. The total credit cards spending for May 2016 in India is INR250.39 billions, out of 78.36 millions transactions.
    For the 3 months ended 31 March 2016, a total of 210.68 millions transactions is recorded in India with a total value of INR653.22 billions.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in India increase by 11.74% to 22.75 million. The total credit cards spending for 2015 in India up by 25.69% to INR2,297.3 billions, with 26.48% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 May 2016, there are 16,493,941 cardholders in Australia, with 212,625,692 transactions amounting to A$26.91 billion recorded in the month.

    As at 31 May 2016, outstanding Lending to Persons in Australia stood at A$1,565.481 billions, an increase of 0.83% compares to A$1,552.646 billions as at 30 April 2016.

  • As at 31 March 2016, there are 16,429,000 credit card accounts in Hong Kong, a decrease of 679,000 or 3.97% in 3 months period(compares to 17,108,000 as at 31 December 2015). The rollover amount stood at HKD$20,664 millions as at 31 March 2016.

    The number of credit cards in Hong Kong increase by 1.19% or 224,000 to 19,044,000 as at 31 December 2015, compares to the same period a year ago. In 2015, a total of 520,977,000 credit card transactions recorded, generating HKD$595.405 billions.



  • As at 30 April 2016, there are 93,592,000 credit cards in South Korea, made up of 86,041,000 personal credit cards and 7,551,000 corporate credit cards. For the month of April 2016, 852,277,000 transactions recorded with a total value of KRW56.752685 trillions.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in South Korea increase by 0.84% to 93,095,000. Personal credit cards decrease by 0.52% while corporate credit card increase by 17.50%. A total of KRW612.58 trillions credit cards spending recorded in 2015, out of 9.80 billions transactions.



  • For the month of April 2016, JPY4.02 trillion credit card transactions recorded in Japan(JPY3.88 trillion for purchases and JPY0.14 trillion for cash advances).

    As at 31 March 2015, the number of credit cards in Japan decrease by 3.11% to 258.90 millions. The total credit card transactions for 2015 increased by 7.69% to JPY49.83 trillions.



  • As at 30 June 2016, outstanding credit card balances in New Zealand stood at NZD$6.486 billion(a decrease of NZD$49 million or 0.75% compares to NZD$6.535 billion as at end of May 2016). Total billings for New Zealand issued cards for June 2016 is NZD$3.269 billion.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in New Zealand decrease by 2.56% to 2,608,147. A total of 334,048,524 credit card transactions recorded in 2014 with NZ$36,080 millions in value.



  • As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in China increase by 16.45% to 455.0950 million. The total payment cards(credit and debit cards) spending for 2014 in China up by 33.15% to CNY42,384 billions, with 52.30% increase in number of card transactions.



Europe

  • As at 31 March 2016, there are 6,214,000 credit and charge cards in Norway. 53.016 million transactions is recorded in Quarter 1, 2016(January, February and March), generating NOK36.967 billions.
    For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, 208.786 billions charge and credit cards transactions recorded, generating NOK153.734 billions.

    The number of payment cards in Norway increase by 998,000 or 7.29% to 14,696,000 as at 31st December 2015, compares to the same period a year ago. The payment cards usage in Norway increased by 6.76% in volume and 4.98% in value.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 6,157,000 cards with credit function in Norway, an increase of 653,000 or 11.86% compares to 5,504,000 to the end of 2014. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, a total of NOK130.8 billions recorded from 179.20 millions credit card transactions.

    As at 31 May 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Norway stood at NOK70,507 million, an increase of NOK1,819 billions or 2.65% compares to NOK68,688 millions as at 30 April 2016.



  • As at 31 May 2016, there are 59.915 millions credit cards in the United Kingdom, with outstanding balances of £61.261 billions. The total credit cards spending for May 2016 in UK is £12.864 billions, out of 230.064 millions transactions. There are 545,000 balance transfer transactions amounted to £1,241 millions recorded in May 2016.

  • As at 31 May 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Germany stood at €179,653 millions, a decrease by €1,454 millions or 0.82% compares to €178,199 millions as at 30 April 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Germany increase significantly by 25.55% to 4,899,140. The total cards spending for 2014 in Germany rised significantly by 36.85% to €6.09 billions, with an equally significant 39.17% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 May 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Netherlands stood at €19,154 millions, a decrease by €380 millions or 1.95% compares to €19,534 millions as at 30 April 2016.

    As at 31 March 2016, there are 6,249,231 cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Netherlands. In the 1st Quarter 2016, 34.304 millions credit card transactions recorded, generating €3.362 billions in total spending.
    As at 31 December 2015, there are 6,224,075 cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Netherlands. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, 141.166 millions transactions recorded, generating €13.406 billions in value.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Netherlands increase by 7.20% to 6,388,870. The total cards(with a credit and/or delayed debit function) spending for 2014 in Netherlands rised by 6.70% to €12.10 billions, with 8.27% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 30 June 2016, there are 21,896,000 convenience credit cards and extended credit cards in Sweden(53,000 or 0.24% lower compares to 21,949,000 as at end of May 2016), with the outstanding balance stood at SEK68.614 billions.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Sweden decrease by 9.27% to 5,216,000. The total credit cards spending for 2014 in Sweden continue to rise by 2.53% to €8.92 billions(out of 144.52 millions transactions).

    As at 30 April 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Sweden stood at €20,352 millions, an increase by €319 millions or 1.59% compares to €20,033 millions as at 31 March 2016.



  • As at 31 March 2016, there are 44.88 millions credit cards in Spain, an increase of 0.06 millions or 0.13% compares to 44.82 millions as at 31 December 2015. For the 3 months ended 31 March 2016, 688.176 millions payment card transactions(credit and debit cards) recorded at point of sales, with a total value of €27,816.74 millions.

    As at 31 December 2015, there are 44.82 millions credit cards in Spain, an increase of 3.65% or 1.58 millions compares to 43.24 millions as at 31 December 2014. For the 12 months ended 31 December 2015, 2,683.857 millions payment card transactions(credit and debit cards) recorded at point of sales, with a total value of €112,330.26 millions.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Spain increase by 0.72% to 43,577,010. The total cards(with a credit and/or delayed debit function) spending for 2014 in Spain increase by 8.50% to €65.71 billions, with 4.77% increase in number of card transactions.

    As at 31 May 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Spain stood at €62,596 millions, an increase by €559 millions or 0.90% compares to €62,037 millions as at 30 April 2016.



  • As at 30 April 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Belgium stood at €8,639 millions, an increase by €432 millions or 5.26% compares to €8,207 millions as at 31 March 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, there are 2,102,090 credit cards in Belgium. The total credit cards spending in Belgium for 2014 is €270 million, out of 2.18 millions transactions.



  • As at 30 April 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Finland stood at €14,148 millions, an increase by €56 millions or 0.40% compares to at €14,092 millions as at 31 March 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, there are 1,730,020 credit cards in Finland. The total credit cards spending in Finland for 2014 is €2.75 billions, out of 49.87 millions transactions.



  • As at 30 April 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in France stood at €153,906 millions, an increase by €268 millions or 0.17% compares to €153,638 millions as at 31 March 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, there are 6,943,180 credit cards in France, generating €5.54 billions from 85.40 millions credit card transactions.



  • As at 30 April 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Italy stood at €82,794 millions, an increase by €530 millions or 0.64% compares to €82,264 millions as at 31 March 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of cards with a credit and/or delayed debit function in Italy decrease by 3.50% to 26,605,930. The total cards(with a credit and/or delayed debit function) spending for 2014 in Italy increase by 6.02% to €53.91 billions, with 9.62% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 30 April 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Denmark stood at €15,593 millions, a decrease by €340 millions or 2.13% compares to €15,933 millions as at 31 March 2016.

    For the 6 months ended 31 December (from 1 July 2015 to 31 December 2015), 27.7 millions credit card transactions recorded in Denmark, generating DKK18.938 billions in total spending.

    As at 31 December 2015, the number of credit cards in Denmark increase by 4.39% to 1,880,003. The total cards spending for 2015 in Denmark increase by 8.15% to DKK36.897 billions, with 6.68% increase recorded in number of card transactions.



  • As at 30 April 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Poland stood at €33,979 millions, a decrease by €695 millions or 2.00% compares to €34,674 millions as at 31 March 2016.

  • As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Poland decrease by 1.49%% to 6,042,000. However, the total cards spending for 2014 in Poland rise by 6.43% to €7.45 billions, with 12.24% increase recorded in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 May 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Austria stood at €19,925 millions, an increase by €229 millions or 1.16% compares to €19,696 millions as at 30 April 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Austria increase by 2.07% to 1,417,770. The total cards spending for 2014 in Austria rised by 5.99% to €5.31 billions, with 25.31% increase in number of card transactions.



  • As at 31 May 2016, there are 6,260,891 cardholders in Switzerland, with 29,631,000 transactions amounting to CHF$3.204 billion recorded in the month.

  • As at 31 March 2016, there are 1,392,756 credit cards and 7,579,206 debit cards in Hungary.

    As at 30 April 2016, the consumer credit(credit cards and personal loans) outstanding balance in Hungary stood at €8,272 millions, a decrease by €11 millions or 0.13% compares to €8,283 millions as at 31 March 2016.

    As at 31 December 2014, the number of credit cards in Hungary increase by 3.06% to 1,392,370. The total cards spending for 2014 in Hungary rise by 18.64% to €1.40 billions, with 31.86% increase in number of card transactions.
