As at 31 December 2016, the demand deposits in FDIC-insured banks amounted to $1.645 trillion, an increase of $103 billion or 6.68% compares to $1.542 trillion in the same period in year 2015. The total $1.645 trillion demand deposits is made up of $1.591 trillion by commercial banks and $53.95 billion by savings institutions.

As at 31 December 2015, the demand deposits in FDIC-insured banks amounted to $1.542 trillion, an increase of $58 billion or 3.91% compares to $1.484 trillion in the same period in year 2014. The total $1.542 trillion demand deposits is made up of $1.493 trillion by commercial banks and $48.79 billion by savings institutions.

As at 31 December 2014, the demand deposits in FDIC-insured banks amounted to $1.484 trillion, an increase of $122 billion or 8.96% compares to $1.362 trillion in the same period in year 2013. The total $1.484 trillion demand deposits is made up of $1.436 trillion by commercial banks and $48.45 billion by savings institutions.
