Out of these transactions, 30.4 millions or 8.63% is paid by credit cards, an increase of 5.19% or 1.5 millions compares to 28.9 millions in 2018; despite the 12.12% decrease in the number of credit cards in 2019. 318.7 millions are paid by debit cards, a significant increase of 40.6 millions or 14.60% compares to 278.1 millions in 2018, despite the small increase of 1.48% in the number of debit cards in 2019. Cards with a delayed debit function accounted for 3.0 millions transaction. Latvia total card payment transactions volume contributes 0.4% to the EU total number of transactions.

The total card payments for 2019 is €6.0 billions in value(€3.16 thousands per capita), an increase of €0.6 billions or 11.11% compares to €5.4 billions in 2018. This also translates into €17.0 per card payment transaction, a small decrease compares to €17.4 in 2018. Out of these transactions, €0.9 billions or 15.00% is paid by credit cards, similar to amount recorded in 2018. Meanwhile, €4.9 billions in value is paid by debit cards, an increase of €0.7 billions or 16.67% compares to €4.2 billions in 2018.
