Total Card Payments in Volume and Value
For 2010, there are 2,179.3 millions of card payment transactions in Turkey(29.56 transactions per capita), an increase of 268.4 millions or 14.05% compares to 1,910.9 millions in 2009.
Out of these transactions, 1959.0 millions or 89.89% is paid by credit cards, an increase of 202 millions or 11.5% compares to 1757.0 millions in 2009.
The rest of card payment transactions(220.3 millions) are paid by debit cards, an increase of 66.4 millions or 43.14% compares to 153.9 millions in 2009.
The total card payments for 2010 is TRY222.0 billions in value(TRY3,011 per capita), an increase of TRY33.7 billions or 17.9% compares to TRY188.3 billions in 2009.
This also translates into TRY101.87 per card payment transaction, an increase from TRY98.54 in 2009. Out of these transactions, TRY214.2 billions or 96.49% is paid by credit cards,
an increase of TRY30.8 billions or 16.79% compares to TRY183.4 billions in 2009. The rest of card payments, TRY7.8 billions in value is paid by debit cards,
an increase of TRY2.9 billions or 59.18% compares to TRY4.9 billions in 2009.

As of 2009, Turkey has a population of 72.56 millions with a GDP(gross domestic product) of TRY952.64 billions. This
translates into TRY13,129 of GDP per capita.
As at 31st December 2009, there are 109,055,000 payment cards issued in Turkey(1.50 cards per capita), an increase of 5,110,000 or 4.92% compares to 103,945,000 in 2008.
There are 44,393,000 credit card in Turkey as at 31st December 2009, an increase of 999,000 or 2.30% compares to 43,394,000 in 2008.
Debit cards increase by 4,111,000 or 6.79% to 64,662,000 in 2009, compares to 60,551,000 in 2008.

For 2009, there are 1910.9 millions of card payment transactions in Turkey(26.34 transactions per capita), an increase of 198.1 millions or 11.57% compares to 1712.8 millions in 2008.
Out of these transactions, 1757.0 millions or 91.95% is paid by credit cards, an increase of 151 millions or 9.40% compares to 1606.0 millions in 2008.
The rest of card payment transactions(153.9 millions) are paid by debit cards, an increase of 47.1 millions or 44.10% compares to 106.8 millions in 2008.
The total card payments for 2009 is TRY188.3 billions in value(TRY2,595 per capita), an increase of TRY19 billions or 11.22% compares to TRY169.3 billions in 2008.
This also translates into TRY98.54 per card payment transaction, a decrease from TRY98.843 in 2008. Out of these transactions, TRY183.4 billions or 97.40% is paid by credit cards,
an increase of TRY17.5 billions or 10.55% compares to TRY165.9 billions in 2008. The rest of card payments, TRY4.9 billions in value is paid by debit cards, an increase of TRY1.5 billions
or 44.12% compares to TRY3.4 billions in 2008.
