The Shoppers MasterCard® Credit Card, issued by MBNA Canada, is a loyalty reward credit card designed especially for Canadian who make purchases at Shoppers Drug Mart® frequently. Cardholders will get 15,000 points after making first purchase with the card, which is equivalent to $25 in-store value. Under the reward program, you can earn 15 points when you shop at Shoppers Drug Mart®. An extra 10 points is rewarded when you show your Shoppers Optimum Card® with the purchase. As such, cardholders should use both, Shoppers Optimum® MasterCard® and Shoppers Optimum Card® together at Shoppers Drug Mart® in order to maximize the points earned. Aside from that, you'll also earn 5 points for purchases made everywhere else. The rewards start at 7,000 points for a $10 in-store value(15,000 points - $25; 30,000 points - $55; 40,000 points - $75; 75,000 points - $150). This card does not require an annual fee. There is a 1.99% introductory AIR on balance transfers and cheque cash advances for the first six months of establishing an account. Rates for purchases, balance transfers, and cash advances are fixed, so cardholders can look forward to stability when using this card. TORONTO, March 19 /CNW/ - Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation (TSX:SC) is providing Canadians with a faster way to accumulate valuable Shoppers Optimum Points with the introduction of the Shoppers Optimum MasterCard credit card from MBNA Canada Bank, ("MBNA"). Beginning this Saturday, March 21st, customers can pick up an application for the new credit card at any Shoppers Drug Mart or Pharmaprix location across Canada. "Shoppers Optimum is one of Canada's most popular loyalty rewards programs with more than 9.3 million active cardholders," said Jurgen Schreiber, President & Chief Executive Officer of Shoppers Drug Mart. "With the introduction of the Shoppers Optimum MasterCard we are giving our valued program members the ability to earn even more points on products and services they purchase not only in our stores, but now, wherever they shop." Customers can earn up to 25 Shoppers Optimum Points for every dollar they spend at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix when using both their Shoppers Optimum MasterCard credit card and their Shoppers Optimum Card. For every dollar spent, 15 Shoppers Optimum Points will be awarded for using the credit card and 10 points for using the Shoppers Optimum Card. When using the credit card elsewhere, cardholders will earn five Shoppers Optimum Points for every dollar they spend.
