The Orchard Bank MasterCardŽ Secured issued by HSBC Bank Nevada, N.A. is designed especially for people with no credit history, or who have experienced past credit problems.
A secured credit card works like a standard credit card. The only difference is that a savings account is established to open the secured credit card account. The savings account serves as collateral for the credit card.For Orchard Bank Secured MasterCard, you set your own credit limit. The minimum deposit required is $200, with a maximum deposit of $15,000, and your credit limit will be equal to 100% of your deposit(i.e. the balance in your collateral savings account). The initial credit limit is up to $1,000 and your account will be reviewed periodically for a possible credit line increase. At any time after your account is opened, you may send in deposits of $100 or more in increments of $100 to add to your secured savings account. Each addition to your savings account will increase your credit limit dollar for dollar. This card does apply interest to the deposit amount required to secure the account, which is a nice benefit. The card has a reasonable annual fee of $35, which is waived for the first year. However, unlike unsecured credit cards, there is no monthly participation or maintenance fee. This card also do not charge application fee or processing fee that may be found on other secured credit cards. This secured card comes with a 7.90% variable purchase APR. Unlike most secured credit cards, this card provides additional services and benefits including online account access, emergency card replacement, and various fraud protection services. Another benefit is that the card report to all three major credit bureaus. As with most secured credit cards, there are no additional perks, benefits, or introductory rates provided to the cardholder, as the card is solely designed to help the cardholder establish credit If you need to make transactions that normally require a traditional credit card(but you have trouble obtaining one), may occasionally carry a balance and will take advantage of the various services will benefit most from what the Orchard Bank MasterCardŽ Secured has to offer. Since HSBC is also issuing standard unsecured credit cards, you may get an offer for one of Orchard Banks unsecured credit cards if you paying your bills on time and your account remains in good standing.

Cardholders Comment/Review/Rating "Combined with their partner, CreditKeeper, an excellent service. Orchard Bank does what they promise, they immediately and consistently report your good payments to all three credit bureaus. They do not rush to increase your credit limit above your deposit amount, but if you go in knowing, it's not that big of a deal. You can make deposits into your secured account at any time to increase your limit yourself. Just think of it as a good savings you cannot touch, one day you will get it back, and you do earn interest on the money. I took advantage of their offer to enroll in CreditKeeper, a monitoring service that gives you 24/7 online access to your credit report, a 3 bureau comparison, credit scores, alerts when something changes, and dispute help. For $9.95 a month it's been a dream for me to clean up my credit and see my progress monthly. Lastly, keep in mind, no credit clean up or improvement is instantaneous. It's hard work over at least a year, maybe more. For me, it's going to make it possible for me to qualify for a home mortgage next year. Now that's worth celebrating." Larissa, 1/24/2007 "Orchard bank credit card helps damaged credit - I got a secured account with a credit limit of $200.00 by making a $200.00 deposit the first of 2005. I've always paid my payments on time,and in some instances several payments in a single billing cycle. Prior to that I couldnt get a department store card at all. In the last 3 months,ive obtained 3 department store credit cards in the amounts of $500.00,$300.00,$500.00,a home depot card for $750.00,and was approved for $1000.00 unsecured, no annual fee visa card from another credit card issuer. The only squabble I have is that Orchard hasnt moved my account to unsecured status,and they have never increased my credit limit. There lack of insight, now will more than likely result in me doing a balance transfer from my orchard to the new account,closing the orchard account out,getting my deposit money and paying off the new balance. I feel that after having an account for 20 months of on time payments,they should have had some insight into increasing the credit limit at least once. They did help my credit report, and they do report monthly. I would highly recommend this card to everyone,though I think a secured account should be made unsecured after a year of paying promptly on time. I did go over the limit once due to the annual fee being charged to the account and I wasn't notified on the previouse months bill that the annual fee was becomming due on the next bill, I politly requested that they remove the over the limit fee, because I should have been notified in the previous bill that a charge was going to be posted to my account, they obliged with no problems at all,and I was very thankful for that." fred, 11/18/2006

If your looking for information about the orchard bank card, I would apply for it you don't have to have a really good credit score. Most easiest card to get, if you work customer service right you can usually get what you want, but most people tend not to do that and that's why you might get bad service apparently customer service took care of the guy with the 99.99 charge on his account. so I mean that can't be that bad huh? usually if I have a problem such as a overlimit charge or something they want you to pay your bill and then dispute it. I would definately go for this card, and I've refered several friends to get this credit card as well. They love it. The card usually comes with Household Printed on the card, not Orchard Bank." It's the type of card you way to pay in full each month to avoid interest. When you apply, you can enter your checking account information online. They'll hold the deposit for at least 2 weeks and, if you are approved, your card will be sent out 1-3 weeks after that. Don't hold your breath waiting for the card itself. They did report to Equifax even before I had the card. I have received pre-approvals from other divisions of Household and it has helped my credit also. I also had a hard time while in the process of a divorce- my payment was returned to Household (no fault of theirs) and they were very understanding still considered my payments on-time even though technically they were not. Word of warning though - make payments on-time if you have to wait til day b4 payment is due to make payment there is a Moneygram service or check by phone features you should use- if payment hasn't posted by statement processing will get assessed late charges easily. As well as stay within your limit - if you are $0.15 cents over your limit - you WILL be charged. it happened once and never happened again.
