The Green Dot® Prepaid Visa®/MasterCard®, issued by Columbus Bank and Trust, is a stored value card that is great for people who want to curb their spending habits.
To use this prepaid credit card, cardholders must load or deposit a minimum of $20 of their own money up to a maximum of $2,500. As with any prepaid card, there are fees associated
with usage of the card. To activate the card, those interested should expect to pay a one time fee in the amount of $4.95. There is a $5.95 monthly maintenance fee for unlimited purchases
(waived in any monthly billing cycle when you load at least $1,000 to your Card OR make 30 purchase transactions), but purchase transactions are made for free.
There are other fees which include ATM cash withdrawals for $2.50(plus any fee the ATM owner may charge) and ATM balance inquiries for $0.50. However, you can make free cash withdrawals
at thousands of participating ATMs nationwide. There are a few fee-free offers that come with this card. The option for direct deposit reloads is free and so is calling a customer service representative.
Checking balances online is also free and so is getting cash back with purchases. There are no credit checks and no bank account is required to obtain the card. And if the card is every lost or stolen, the funds
loaded onto the card are protected. The Green Dot® Prepaid Visa®/MasterCard® is great for people who don't want to commit to a traditional credit card and monthly statements, but would
like the convenience of using a Visa®/MasterCard® branded card.
