Virgin Atlantic American Express® Card from Bank of America - Black Short Review The Virgin Atlantic American Express® Card from Bank of America - Black, issued by Bank of America, is designed for those who travel frequently with Virgin Atlantic Airways or any of its partners and would like to take advantage of the mileage rewards program. Through the rewards program, cardholders can earn travel rewards at a rate of 3 miles for every dollar spent on Virgin Atlantic purchases and 1.5 miles per dollar for spending everywhere else. 20,000 bonus miles are applied to the account upon the first purchase. An additional 15,000 miles will be applied to the account every year on the date of the account opening as long as the cardmember reaches $25,000 in spending that year. Miles never expire, and there is no limit to the number of miles that can be earned. Along with earning miles, cardmembers can earn tier points at a rate of one tier point for every $2,500 in purchases made with their card. There is a two point cap on the amount of tier point that can be earned during each month and a 24 point limit for the year. The amount of points a cardmember has determines their status within the rewards program. There is an annual fee of $90 with this card. The introductory rate is 0% for purchases, cash advances, balance transfers and direct deposits for the first six billing cycles. The rate for purchases and balance transfers after the promotional rate expires is reasonable for a rewards credit card.
