Get a free qoute online for hollard pay as you drive insurance
"It just takes a minute to complete and submit your
hollard pay as you drive online quoation request."
Pay As You Drive is the first personalized motor insurance in South Africa.
It works just like your cell phone contract, where you pay a monthly fee, you also get free minutes and when you’ve exceeded your free minutes, you start to pay for your calls.
With Hollard Pay As You Drive ™ your premium is split into two portions;
1. a fixed monthly premium which includes a Skytrax tracking device from Tracker
2. a variable monthly insurance premium which is based on the amount of kilometres you drive every month. The variable monthly premium only starts charging you once you’ve travelled more than 417kms a month.
The fixed premium is calculated on normal insurance factors such as your age, your address, the vehicle you drive etc. The variable premium again uses your personal insurance factors to calculate a cents per kilometre rate for you. So, to calculate your total monthly premium, the kilometres you travel each month are multiplied by your cents per kilometre rate & this is added to the fixed monthly premium.
Your insurance premium is capped at a maximum of 3200 kilometres each month, but your mileage is not capped. This means that even though you may travel more than 3200kms in a month, you will not pay for any kilometres travelled beyond 3200kms each month.
Hollard Pay As You Drive ™ also does not load your premium for business use and your premium also includes the discounted monthly subscription for Tracker’s Skytrax tracking device - providing considerable savings.
Hollard Pay As You Drive ™ aims to provide policyholders with fairer more accurate insurance cover for cars.

How do you know how far I travel? Every month Hollard receives a report of the kilometres driven from Tracker (suppliers of the SkyTrax units). They are automatically calculated from the SkyTrax unit in your vehicle which uses GPS technology. There is no need for you to keep manual records of the mileage driven. When do I pay my premiums? Other than your first premium, all premiums are collected on the first working day of the month. The insurance premium is made up of your fixed portion and then includes the variable portion based on the mileage you travelled in the previous month. Who installs the SkyTrax Unit? Tracker - they are the official national supplier of the SkyTrax tracking units. What area does SkyTrax cover? Everywhere in South Africa - and where there is GSM network coverage. What happens to the SkyTrax contract if my vehicle is a write-off or it is stolen and not recovered? Hollard will pay the outstanding monthly subscriptions until the expiry of the 36-month SkyTrax contract. Will my insurance pay out my claim if my motor vehicle is stolen/hijacked and not recovered? Yes. However, the SkyTrax Unit is a requirement for the Pay As You Drive™ Policy. It must always be in working order. If we discover that the unit was not operational at the time of any insured event, there will be no cover. SkyTrax is active 24 hours per day. You are able to test SkyTrax via the internet at any time from any place at no cost to you. It is your responsibility to report any concerns regarding the product to SkyTrax. Will the emergency button place me at risk? Vehicle hijackings are potentially violent. An assistance button is fitted in a position where you feel it is the safest. Most tracking companies do not offer emergency buttons due to lack of technical capabilities. SkyTrax has one assistance button as standard, but you have the option of installing additional assistance buttons in the vehicle at additional cost. What happens if you sell your vehicle? The SkyTrax product is a value added extra. If you sell your vehicle, the SkyTrax system can be transferred to your new vehicle. A fee for the transfer will be levied. Should the person purchasing your vehicle wish to make use of the SkyTrax product, a new contract with that person would be signed. Can SkyTrax guarantee the recovery of my vehicle? With the technology and criminal intelligence that are used in the SkyTrax product, you have the best chance of having your stolen or hijacked vehicle recovered within the first hour. Certain circumstances such as communication network coverage are beyond Tracker’s control. This makes it impossible for us to guarantee the recovery of your vehicle. Who installs the SkyTrax product? Approved fitment centres do all installations. All fitment agents are security checked and regularly undergo polygraph tests to ensure maximum security. Are there any hidden costs in the SkyTrax product offer? All services such as roadside assistance, medical assistance & stolen vehicle recovery are covered in your monthly subscriptions. This subscription is included in the insurance premium you pay. All value added services outside of the standard quote will be charged at rates agreed to in the telematics agreement. Any false alarms will be levied at normal service rates. What happens if I already have an existing SkyTrax unit in my vehicle? That will not influence the cover at all. The premium will just be calculated excluding the SkyTrax portion. What happens if I have a tracking device in my car that is not SkyTrax? The guiding principle here is that the Pay As You Drive™ product is developed around the telematics that the SkyTrax Unit offers. You therefore have to install SkyTrax in your car to enjoy cover. SkyTrax has great benefits, which are not found on other tracking devices, and can be installed in conjunction with any other device. If you are not willing to install the SkyTrax unit then a normal Motor Comprehensive policy can be taken out. Can I have more than one tracking device in my car? Yes. There is no reason why more than one tracking device cannot be installed into the vehicle. Why do I have to use the Hollard emergency line if I need my vehicle towed after an accident? In order to ensure that the vehicle gets routed to a Hollard approved panel beater & that we do not end up incurring excessive storage & release fees. If you do, we will pay up to R1 850 for towing and storage per event, otherwise we will only pay R500. What if I am injured during the accident and can’t call your emergency line? You will be supplied with a "Do Not Tow" sticker when we send your policy documentation to you. Make sure you stick this on one of the windows on your vehicle. This will ensure that the tow operators call the emergency line before they tow your vehicle away, thus guaranteeing that the vehicle is routed to a Hollard approved panel beater/repairer. What sort of warranty does Tracker offer? If the telematics device is inoperative or is faulty by reason of defective components or workmanship or design within 12 months of fitment, Tracker will replace the device free of charge. This warranty does not apply if the device has been tampered with or worked on by a non-Tracker authorised installation agent. |
Pay As You Drive™ uses Tracker's SkyTrax GPS tracking device to accurately monitor how far you travel each month - this is used to calculate the monthly premium.
